Socialismo o Muerte, 2002
Painted cardboard, steel, Plexiglas
43 x 51 x 15 cm.
Painted reproduction of a political poster proclaiming Fidel Castros slogan Socialismo o Muerte ironically written out in the typography of the Coca-Cola trademark. Cuba remains one of the rare countries in the world that have escaped the Coca-Cola brand, preferring the local soda, Tropicola. The sponge placed in front of the poster emphasizes this phenomenon of absorption and rejection of cultural signs.
